Police have made a fresh appeal for witnesses after the fire which burned down Manchester Dogs Home.

50 animals died in the arson attack eight weeks ago . So far no one has been charged.

But the response from the public in terms of donations has been staggering, with almost two million pounds raised to help rebuild the home.

A millionaire Russian student is putting her crystal-encrusted Mercedes up for sale to raise money for Manchester Dogs’ Home.

Daria Radionova plans to put her silver Mercedes under the hammer to help the arson-hit home, which was destroyed by fire earlier this month.

The 21-year-old covered her £50,000 car in £20,000 of Swarovksi gems because she wanted to do something ‘unique and special’.

Daria Radionova said “I want to raise money for the homeless animal shelter in the UK that was burned a few weeks ago, the one in Manchester,” she told The Tab.

Mario Balotelli has apparently shown his heart is in the right place after appearing to have made a generous donation to Manchester Dogs’ Home.

The millionaire ex-City striker who now plays for Liverpool is thought to have given a five-figure sum to the home after 60 dogs were killed in a blaze a week ago today.

Staff at the dogs home suspect the dog-loving Italian is behind the generous handout - and have revealed how the Premier League star previously volunteered for their charity during his time at Manchester City.

Dawn Bradbury was convinced her dog Leo has perished in the fire and was distraught - he'd been picked up by wardens after going missing last week. Thankfully Leo survived the blaze and today the pair were reunited.

Meanwhile stars of Coronation Street and the X Factor judge Simon Cowell have pledged their support as Paul Crone reports.
