Man jailed for grooming girls for sex in Bolton

A man who had sex with two different teenage girls, in the full knowledge both were underage, has been sentenced.

Sulman Dar from Bolton pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child.

He was sentenced to six and a half years in prison yesterday at Bolton Crown Court.

He was also given a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for ten years and ordered to sign the Sex Offender's Register for an indefinite period.

Both victims were 15-years-old at the time they were groomed by Dar in the summer of 2013. He plied them with cigarettes and alcohol before taking advantage of them.

On both occasions, after Dar had sex with the two teenage girls, he told them both not to say anything to anyone.

One of the two victims said in her impact statement:

Detective Sergeant Pete Astbury, of The Phoenix Exit Team, Bolton's multi agency Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, said: "Dar displayed all the classic hallmarks of a sexual predator and perpetrator of child sexual exploitation.

"He plied two girls with drink and cigarettes - in the full knowledge both were below the age of consent - to groom them before taking advantage of them. It is clear from reading the personal statements of both victims that they did not consent to his actions and were horrified afterwards.

"The fact he told both girls to keep silent afterwards shows he was well aware that what he was doing was wrong but he did it anyway.
