The North West had the highest rate of suicide in the country in 2012, according to new figures published by the Office of National Statistics.

There were 12.4 deaths per 100,000 population.

The North West had the highest rate of suicide in the country in 2012, according to new figures published by the Office of National Statistics.

There were 12.4 deaths per 100,000 population.

The lowest rate was in London, where the rate was 8.7 deaths per 100,000.

The group most vulnerable to suicide are men aged 40 to 44, at 25.9 deaths per 100,000 population.
