Householders refuse to pay council tax after floods
Elaine Willcox reports from the Lancashire town of Hambleton where some people are refusing to pay their council tax until drainage systems improve. Local people claim that inadequate drains caused flooding.
Cheshire East Council update on flooding
The Trent and Mersey Canal at Croxton Lane, Middlewich. The risk of collapse is now receding and we do not believe housing is currently under threat.
Moss Lane/Flowers Lane/Bradfield Green. Sandbags have been deployed and we are currently pumping 25,000 litres of water an hour.

London Road in Northwich closed
The A533 London Road in Northwich is closed both ways due to flooding between A559 Watling Street and The Crescent.
Fire fighters warn of dangers of rivers swollen by rain
Firefighters from Greater Manchester are warning the public of the dangers of rivers which have become swollen after the heavy rains. It comes after a man had to be pulled from the River Irwell. He'd fallen in whilst rafting. Emergency services were alerted by kayakers.
Man rescued from swollen river
A man has been rescued from the River Irwell after getting into trouble while rafting. Fire crews and police pulled the 56 year old an from the river after the alarm was raised by kayakers. He's being treated in hospital.
Clean up after floods continues
A massive clean up operation is underway across the north west after two days of endless torrential downpours. Most people affected are hoping the worst is now over but there are stll 24 flood warnings and 30 alerts in force for the region.

FLOODING: Latest advice from Cheshire Police
Cheshire Police are advising motorists to avoid the following areas which are affected by flooding:
- Middlewich - areas around the Trent & Mersey canal
- Northwich - town centre around the Bull Ring
- Winsford - New Road
- Warrington - Higham Avenue and surrounding areas
- Bollington - Park Lane
- Dutton (Near Frodsham) - areas surrounding the Trent and Mersey Canal.
Drivers are being advised to only make journeys that are 'absolutely necessary'.
In a statement, the force added:
Flood-hit residents threaten to with-hold council tax
People living in flood-hit homes in Hambleton, near Poulton-le-Fylde, are threatening to with-hold their council tax.
They say it's the third time their homes have been threatened by rising flood waters.
Among the residents threatening to take action is David Shaw, who lives in the town.
