Musicians record album in memory of Isle of Man brothers who died from ecstasy overdose
ITV Granada Reports Isle of Man Reporter Joshua Stokes met the musicians paying tribute to Jacques and Torin Lakeman
Musicians from across the Isle of Man have come together to record an album in memory of two brothers who died from an ecstasy overdose.
Jacques and Torin Lakeman died in 2014 after they overdosed on ecstasy while staying in a hotel in Manchester.
Since their deaths, their father, Ray Lakeman, has been campaigning to reform drug laws, calling for the Isle of Man and UK governments to legally regulate drugs.
He says regulation could have prevented his sons' deaths. "They were well-educated, they knew about the dangers, we'd talked about the dangers, but the only thing that could have kept them safe was if it had been legally regulated."
As part of the campaign, performers from across the island have recorded an album celebrating the brothers love of music.
Most knew the boys, with some having performed alongside them.
They said the family's determination to campaign after such tragedy was an inspiration, and it was wonderful to be able to write something special for the album of Manx artists to remember Torin and Jacques.
