A bus driver and three passengers have been taken to hospital after a crash between a car and a bus.

The collision happened at Broughton Bridge on Blackfriars Road in Salford just before 9:50pm on Sunday, 30 December.

The bus driver and three others were rescued from the bus by firefighters, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said.

Police said no serious injuries were reported but a number of casualties were taken to hospital "as a precaution."A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At just before 9.50pm on Sunday two fire engines from Salford fire station plus the technical response unit from Leigh fire station were called to reports of a crash involving a car and a bus on Blackfriars Road, Salford.

“Firefighters extricated the driver and three others from the bus before handing them to the care of colleagues form North West Ambulance Service.

"Crews made the area safe alongside Greater Manchester Police and were in attendance for around one hour and 20 minutes.”

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 9.40pm last night (Sunday 29 December 2024), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a bus and a car on Blackfriars Road in Salford.

"No serious injuries were reported but a number of casualties were taken to hospital as a precaution.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
