Police are appealing for witnesses after reports of a break-in at a charity warehouse on Blackstock Street in Liverpool.

Officers were contacted at 8:30am on Monday 23 December, following reports of someone forcing their way into the Whitechapel centre’s donations warehouse.

Items including food, toiletries and clothing were stolen between 5:00pm on Friday 20 December and 8:15am on Monday 23.

Posting on X, representatives of Whitechapel Centre said they were 'devastated' by the break-in, calling on people to check their dashcams and CCTV.

Liverpool local policing Chief Inspector Charlotte Irlam said: “Business burglaries are not victimless crimes but for people to choose to target a warehouse which collects items for the city’s homeless, and in particular just before Christmas, is particularly contemptable.

“Anyone who was in the vicinity of Blackstock Street over the weekend who heard or saw anything or believes they have been offered items for sale are asked to contact us.”
