A man was airlifted to hospital after being shot in the face inside a flat in Liverpool.
Emergency services were called to Haslingden Close in Old Swan just before 4.30pm on Monday 29 January.
It followed a call a man had entered a flat and shot another man inside.
The man was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital via air ambulance with a serious gunshot injury to his face.
On Tuesday 30 January, police executed four warrants and have arrested a man and a woman.
Officers recovered a large amount of cash, suspected Class A drugs and multiple mobile phones at an address in Old Swan and items associated with the supply of drugs.
A 53-year-old man from Garston was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, and possession of criminal property. He is now being questioned by police.
A woman, 51, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug.Detective Chief Inspector John Fitzgerald said: "The investigation into this shooting is still in the early stages but we believe it was a targeted attack.
"We are continuing to carry out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries to establish exactly what happened.
“We understand the fear that gun crime causes and I’d like to assure residents living in the area that the use of firearms will not be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside.
"We are committed to tackling gun crime and will pursue those who are prepared to use firearms to endanger the lives of people in our community."In the 12 months to September 2023, we saw a 50% reduction in firearms offences compared the previous year.
"We are committed to taking weapons off our streets to prevent further shootings and, rest assured, if you tell us where guns are stored and being used we will take action.“I would appeal to anyone who was on Haslingden Close and saw the incident or anything or anyone suspicious to come forward and let us know.
"Similarly, if you have doorbell or dashcam footage and live in the area then please review it and tell us if you see anything.
