Manchester Airport has reopened after a temporary closure due to heavy snow.

Both runways were shut and flights were suspended after snowfall this morning.

In an update on Twitter, the airport said it was pleased to say "operations had been resumed".

It comes as the Met Office is warning of snow and ice across the region, with the warning in force until midday.

Inbound flights were diverted and outbound flights were delayed.

One passenger was due to fly to Milan with Ryanair at 07:25am, but their flight has been delayed to 11:45am.

Some of the roads around the airport are also still affected by the disruption.

Updates on the road closures are being published on the National Highways: North-West twitter.
