Urgent appeal after 14-year-old girl goes missing from hospital in Prescot

Merseyside Police has issued an urgent appeal after a 14-year-old girl went missing from hospital.

Lillie Mae Swift was last seen at around 7.20pm at Whiston Hospital in Prescot on Saturday (3 December).She is described as a white female, 5ft tall, of slight build, with shoulder length straight black hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion.

When last seen she was wearing a black and white long sleeve crop top, black and white tie dye jogging bottoms, a black bomber jacket, sparkly black trainers and silver hoop earrings.

She also had a black backpack.Police say she is known to frequent branches of McDonald's or places with wi-fi, the Anfield and Rainhill areas and hospitals in the Merseyside area.

Anyone who has seen Lillie Mae or knows of her whereabouts is being asked to call 999.On twitter, the force said: "Please share our appeal and help us to get Lillie Mae home safely."According to the charity missingpeople.org.uk, somebody is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK, equating to a total of 170,000 people.

Of that number, more than 70,000 are children and almost 98,000 are adults.The charity also states that 80 per cent of children are found within the first 24 hours of being reported missing and 90 per cent are found within two days, while two per cent are not found in the first week.

For adults, the respective figures are 75 per cent, 85 per cent and five per cent.
