Two men have been arrested after a burglary at off-licence, in Liverpool, with a little help from a police dog.

Merseyside Police were called to a shop on Walton Road in Kirkdale in the early hours of Monday 13 December after reports of five men breaking in.

Officers cordoned the shops off, and brought Police Dog Quga to the scene.

She saw a silver Ford Fiesta drive off from the rear of the shop and gave chase, almost being hit by the car in the process.

Police then saw two men still inside the shop who, upon seeing PD Quga, came out and were arrested at the scene.

Detective Inspector Jennie Beck said: “Although we have made two arrests this morning officers are still searching for three men involved in the incident.

“We will use all resources available to us – including PD Quga and her Police Dog colleagues – to find and bring to justice anyone suspected of being involved in a burglary."
