Every day in December we're opening a door of our Granada Reports Advent Calendar of local heroes.

Each day, we'll be meeting someone who has gone above and beyond in what has been a very difficult year.

Behind Door 13 is Taslima Ahmad. She runs a textile workshop CDM UK in the heart of Manchester for women from diverse backgrounds.

Taslima is a WEA tutor - WEA is the UK’s largest voluntary sector provider of adult education.

Her course ‘sewing for self-employment’ was created by the WEA to be an impactful course that would empower women with the motivation, skills and confidence to use their new sewing machines to earn money and break cycles of poverty.
