Liverpool hosts world leaders at G7 summit

For the second time in under three months the North West is hosting a meeting of some of the most powerful politicians in the world.

September saw the Speakers from the G7 gather in Chorley, this weekend the group's Foreign Secretaries are holding a summit in at the Museum of Liverpool on the city's waterfront.

It's the final event in the UK's presidency of the G7.

The G7 include some of the largest economies in the world. The event will make a significant impact on the hospitality sector bringing a much needed boost to hotels and restaurants.

The council have said they'll keep disruption and road closures to a minimum.


WHAT IS THE G7?The seven members of the G7 (Group of 7) are the UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, France and Italy, plus the EU.

This year, the UK has taken on the Presidency of the G7. The group meet for close-knit discussions in key issues such as climate change, the economy and global health.

  • Development of vaccines

  • Green agenda

  • Sustainable infrastructure

  • Preventing and resolving conflict.


The summit is due to commence Friday December 10, and last until Sunday December 12.
