North West churches ring out climate message ahead of COP26
Dean Rogers Govender MBE said religious institutions would watch COP26 closely.
Churches across the North West will ring their bells on Saturday night ahead of the COP26 climate summit which starts in Glasgow on Sunday.
The mass bell ringing event is being held throughout the UK to remind world leaders of the climate emergency.
Rogers Govender MBE who is the Dean of Manchester Cathedral said: ''We are concerned about climate change.
''We want all those who're gathering at COP26 to know that we in the religious institutions of our land are very much watching the proceedings and the decisions and the actions that we hope will come out of this very important gathering.''
The Anglican community in Chester will also take part in the event which is due to take place at 6pm. In a statement, they said: ''Bells have traditionally been rung to mark significant moments, both in times of celebration, such as victory in war, and as a warning of impending danger, such as invasion.''
