The Crown's Emma Corrin stars in Anna X at Salford's Lowry theatre
Anna X is a modern love story, with a powerful insight into perceptions about our 'instagram lives'.
The main characters, Anna and Ariel, both new arrivals in New York City, meet on a night out. Ariel is a tech entrepreneur who has designed a dating app and Anna is taking the art world by storm.
The West End play by Joseph Charlton debuts Golden Globe award-winner Emma Corrin, who stars as Lady Diana Spencer in The Crown, and the Royal Television Society 2019 breakthrough star, Nabhaan Rizwan.
Anna X runs for five performances, so you would have to be quick to see it in the North West, from Wednesday, August 11th to Saturday, August 14th, 2021.
The staging at The Lowry theatre is always clever and Anna X doesn't disappoint, with superb lighting, graphics and music, taking you to Manhattan and to a night on the dance floor.
Emma has recently opened up about gender identity. The actor revealed she has been binding her chest in an Instagram post. She has also spoken of her "journey".
Binders are compression garments often worn by trans and nonbinary people to help ease feelings of body dysphoria.
Corrin's instagram bio was also updated to include pronouns "she/they."
Emma told ITV Granada Reports: "I think visibility is key with these things. My journey has been a long one and has still got a long way to go. I think we are so used to defining ourselves.
"That's the way society works within these binaries and it's taken me a long time to realise that I exist somewhere in between and I'm still not sure where that is yet."
One fan wrote: "I can't believe you're the same character from The Crown.
"That's so impressive!! I love how you played it and I love your real personality and identity as (what I know of it of course). Best of luck on your journey".
