50 people evacuated from homes in Lancaster due to flooding
50 people have been evacuated from their homes in Lancaster after heavy rain overnight caused flooding.
Crews from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service were called to Lentworth Drive near burrow beck in Lancaster at around 5.30 this morning (August 5) and found multiple properties flooded.
Firefighters have been moving ground floor residents to safety, some of whom were taken to a nearby rest centre at St Pauls Church hall in Scotforth.
Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service say there are two multi-storey residential properties and approximately 10 other domestic properties affected by the flood waters.
Pumping efforts are underway to control and reduce the water levels. There are some road closures in place around the area and members of the public are urged to stay away from the area if possible. No injuries have been reported.
