A third of disabled people in Greater Manchester feel they're being neglected by the government and their local authority during the pandemic.

That's according to a new survey from a panel representing disabled people in the city region.

90% of the 677 people who were surveyed (93% of whom identify as being disabled), said the pandemic has also had a negative impact on their mental health.

Other key findings in the report include difficulty in sourcing PPE and less frequent health visits for disabled people during this period.

The panel said all public bodies providing services to disabled people in Greater Manchester should undertake equality impact assessments of their Covid-19 responses and involve disabled people in the assessment of these. It also recommended the development of a BAME disabled people's organisation.
