18 year old arrested after warning of illegal rave plans in Blackpool

An 18 year old has been arrested following police warnings about an illegal rave in Lancashire.

The man, from Thornton, is suspected of being involved in organising a gathering in the Blackpool area.

Officers say no event took place but they still had extra patrols monitoring routes across the county and at key locations.

It comes after police warned they would disrupt any plans for an illegal rave on Friday night.

Supt Kitchen added that officers have taken a "proportionate approach" to how they police the regulations throughout the pandemic but they "will not allow people to organise illegal gatherings purely for gain."

Police are encouraging anyone who sees suspicious behaviour or large gatherings in outdoor areas to call 101.
