Knowsley Safari in plea to government to reopen
Knowsley Safari bosses are demanding answers as to why the public is allowed to use McDonald's drive-thrus but not visit its site.
The North West safari park confirmed it was unable to reopen due to new Government guidelines set up to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
But the popular attraction has said it is "well-prepared, ready andwaiting to reopen" and cannot understand why it’s now ok for people togo into shops or visit public spaces where there’s no enforced socialdistancing, but not stay in their vehicle to watch the animals.
Rachel Scott, marketing director at Knowsley Safari, said:
Knowsley Safari Park has also taken to social media to put a number ofquestions to the Government, expressing their frustrations further ina series of tweets with the hashtag "OpenKnowsleySafari."
Coronavirus safety measures are already in place across the site. These include:
Only accepting online bookings to avoid handling cash- Specific time-slots for visitors in their vehicles
Protective screens at the entry kiosks
Signage in the park and on the roads around the Safari Park
A marked picnic area away from the Safari Drive is now available to enable people who want to eat their own food outside their vehicle to do so while social distancing.
