A cyclist caused a two-vehicle accident on a motorway near Skelmersdale, because he hadn't switched his mobile sat-nav to its "bike" setting.

It happened on the M58 when the man decided to get his hourly lockdown exercise.

But due to the technology blunder on his mobile phone, it led him tothe motorway, between Junctions 4 and 5.

Describing how he caused the crash, a Lancashire Police spokespersonsaid: "He [the cyclist] moved out in to Lane 1, causing a car in Lane1 to swerve to Lane 2 into the path of a van."

After he was escorted off the M58 by police, the seemingly-bewilderedman immediately made another wrong turning moments later, and ended upon the motorway once more.

Again, he was escorted away from the dangerous lanes by officers.

The casually dressed cyclist, who was not drunk or impaired by anysubstances, was fined by police, who have described the incident as "surreal".

And they said it was a wonder the cyclist wasn't "wiped out" himself.

The smash happened last Monday, but details have only just beenreleased by police.
