Blackpool unites to help homeless
Blackpool Council says it has worked with partners across the town to provide vital services to support and protect the homeless.
It follows the Government announcement in March that all homeless people should be provided with accommodation to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus within a potentially very vulnerable group who are at a higher risk of mortality than the general population.
The council says that the majority of Blackpool’s homeless have been found accommodation by Blackpool Council and housed within B&Bs close to the centre of the resort.
Working within its Homeless Partnership and Food Partnership, the council has encouraged collaboration between a wide range of partners to provide food and accommodation to those in need.
Around a hundred and fifty people have been placed in emergency accommodation after the closure of two night shelters in line with Government guidance.
Soup kitchens in the resort are delivering food on a daily basis to each of those isolating in B&Bs seven days a week.
