Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after scrambler bike crash left two in hospital
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a scrambler bike crash left two men in hospital.
Emergency services were called to Waterpark Drive, in Stockbridge Village, Knowsley, at around 2.30pm on Monday April 20 after an off road bike collided with a black Vauxhall Astra.Two 22-year-old men were taken to Aintree Hospital with serious injuries after the crash as the driver of the car fled the scene.
One man is currently fighting for his life while the other remains in serious condition. Police launched a hunt for the driver and have now confirmed that an arrested was made on Tuesday.
A 27-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken into custody.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Officers have this evening (Tuesday 21 April) arrested a 27-year-old man following a serious road traffic collision on Waterpark Drive yesterday involving a scrambler bike and a black Vauxhall Astra.
"The man, from Huyton, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
"The two 22-year-old men who were seriously injured as a result of this collision, and were believed to have been on the scrambler bike, remain in hospital.
"One is in a serious condition and the other is in a critical condition."
Waterpark Drive was closed for a number of hours on Monday afternoon as police carried out their investigation at the scene.Shortly after the crash, a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said the scrambler bike riders had suffered "major trauma injuries".
Investigations are continuing and the public are urged to come forward if they have any information.
