Staff nurse at Aintree Hospital dies after testing positive for coronavirus

A nurse at Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool died on Friday after testing positive for coronavirus.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust chief nurse Dianne Brown said: "It is with great sadness that I can confirm that Liz Glanister, a long-serving staff nurse at Aintree University Hospital, sadly passed away at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital on Friday after being tested positive for Covid-19.

"All our thoughts are with Liz's family at this time and we offer them our sincere condolences.

"Liz will be sadly missed by all those who knew and worked with her."

People across the UK are being urged to stay home to protect the NHSand save lives.

The number of deaths in the UK has also risen to 4,934, Public HealthEngland said on Sunday.

As of Sunday April 5, 621 more people died in the pandemic, and therewere 5,914 more cases.

The rate of increase is slightly lower than on Saturday, when 708 newdeaths were confirmed in the UK - the largest increase to happen yetin 24 hours.
