Manx residents trying to get back to the Isle of Man given a lifeline by the Government
Manx residents who wish to return to the Isle of Man will be brought back in stages, the Isle of Man Health Minister has announced.
Those wishing to travel back to the Isle of Man who missed the final ferry crossing will now have the opportunity to travel from 15th April.
After making the journey, travellers will be held in quarantined accommodation for fourteen days upon returning back the Island.
The application process means residents will only be allowed back if they are not showing any symptoms.
Residents wishing to return must contact the Isle of Man Government to explain their personal circumstances as part of the application.
Over 190 Island residents are believed to be scattered around the world after the Isle of Man Government closed the borders in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Many have said they tried to return to the Isle of Man after hearing the borders would close, but were not able to in the timescale that was given.
The Health Minister, David Ashford MHK, made the announcement during the Isle of Man Government daily press conference.
The Chief Minister, Howard Quayle MHK has said he continuously asked people to return to the Island where possible in the days running up to the border closure.
He has also said the decisions have been made by closely following advice from clinicians.
Residents wishing to return are asked to contact the government by sending an email detailing their situation to residentsreturn.co@gov.im.
