Tributes to Eddie Large who has died aged 78

Tributes have been paid to the comedian Eddie Large, who has died at the age of 78 after contracting coronavirus while he was being treated in hospital for heart failure.

The Little And Large star was best known for his partnership with Syd Little, from Blackpool, which was forged in the 1960s in the North West.

Large was born in Scotland and brought up Manchester.

A post from Manchester City Football Club on Twitter said: "Everyone at Manchester City is sad to hear that lifelong City fan and celebrity Eddie Large has passed away aged 78.

"Our thoughts are with Eddie's friends and family at this difficult time"

Tommy Cannon, one half of the North West comedy duo Cannon and Ball, wrote on Twitter: "Devastated to hear that my good friend Eddie Large has passed.. very heavy hearts at home today. Mine and Hazels hearts go out to Patsy and the family."
