Loganair to take on Flybe route from Isle of Man to Liverpool

Loganair is set to take on the old Flybe route from the Isle of Man to Liverpool following discussions between the airline and the Manx Government.

Flights will start from Thursday 12th March and continue as an "interim solution" while further negotiations remain ongoing.

This will include the patient transfer service that operates on the Island.

The service allows all NHS patients to fly to medical facilities in Liverpool for treatment that is unavailable in the Isle of Man.

Speaking this morning in the House of Keys, the Infrastructure Minister made the announcement.

Loganair has previous experience of delivering services to the NHS in Scotland where patient travel accounts for 8% of its business.

Following the collapse of Flybe, it is now the UK's largest regional airline.

The airline is also in talks with the Isle of Man Government about restoring the Manchester and Birmingham routes.

The remaining Flybe routes including the flights to Manchester are yet to be replaced.
