Fresh murder appeal on what would have been Yusuf Sonko's 21st birthday

The family of a teenager shot dead in Liverpool almost three years ago are holding a vigil on what would have been his 21st birthday.

Police are offering a £20,000 reward for information surrounding the murder of Yusuf Sonko in Toxteth in June 2017.

He was fatally shot behind shops on Lodge Lane, Toxteth.

A number of men have been arrested and remain under investigation in connection with his murder.

Detectives say they still want to speak to Jason Curry, who frequents Wrexham and Cumbria, as a priority.

They believe he may have important information which could help the investigation.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the murder to contact Crimestoppers anonymously and say measures can be put in place to protect them.

Tonight's vigil will take place at Tiber Square on Lodge Lane between 5pm and 6.30pm, during which a number of speeches are planned.

On Saturday, a fundraising event will take place at Liverpool Caribbean Centre on Upper Parliament Street, with raffle prizes donated by the local community.

All proceeds raised through ticket, food, and raffle sales will be donated to the local community village in Senegal which Yusuf last visited in February 2017.
