Lancashire Police arrest man on suspicion of murder of woman in Preston

Lancashire Police have arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Preston.

Police were called to a property on Fir Trees Avenue in the Grange area of the city at around 11pm last night, where they found the body of a woman believed to be in her 20s.

The cause of the woman's death is unknown.

Ch Insp Pauline Stables, of Lancashire Police, said: "First and foremost our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends, who are being supported by specially-trained officers at this incredibly difficult time.

"Our investigation is very much underway and we have this afternoon made an arrest. At this time we believe the victim and the arrested man may have been known to each other.

"We are now urging anybody with information about the woman’s death to get in touch with us as soon as possible on 101, quoting log number 1569 of February 15th."
