Couple left bleeding in Liverpool city centre alleyway after knife attack

A couple have been stabbed and cut by a knifeman in Liverpool City Centre.

The man and woman were both left bleeding in an alleyway near May Street - he was left with a stab wound to the buttocks, she was slashed in the face.

Both victims were taken to hospital after their attacker reportedly got into a white car and fled the scene in the direction of Clarence Street.

Forensic officers could be seen combing the areas inside the cordon until the late hours of Tuesday night.

Officers investigating the attack say they believe it was targeted but are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
