Transpennine Express suspends half of services from Liverpool due to delays with the arrival of new trains
Rail firm Transpennine Express has suspended half its services from Liverpool Lime Street because of delays in the roll out of a new fleet of trains.
Train passengers face weeks of disruption because of the cancellations on the Liverpool to Edinburgh route.
It means fewer Transpennine Express services linking Liverpool, Newton-le-Willows and Manchester Victoria.
The company also blamed a maintenance backlog and infrastructure issues for causing a delay in staff training.
It said it hopes to return to the full timetable on 24 January.
