Whaley Bridge residents to get update on Toddbrook reservoir

Residents in Whaley Bridge are being invited to hear about the plans to restore Toddbrook Reservoir this evening.

The event, hosted by the Canal & River Trust charity, will take place at the Palace Hotel in Buxton. Directors for the Trust will explain plans for improvements to the Todd Brook inlet channel and temporary works to protect the spillway which was damaged at the beginning of August after exceptionally heavy rainfall.

The Canal & River Trust, which cares for 2,000 miles of waterways including Toddbrook Reservoir, is working closely with its contractor Kier to keep Toddbrook drained while the major long term reservoir restoration programme is delivered over the next few years.

Julie Sharman, chief operating officer with the Canal & River Trust, said:

No booking is required for the briefings to be held at the Palace Hotel, Palace Road, Buxton, SK17 6AG, opposite Buxton Train Station. Just turn up at 6pm or 7.30pm. Anyone needing more information can check out the Trust’s website www.canalrivertrust.org.uk/restoring-toddbrook-reservoir or email toddbrook@canalrivertrust.org.uk.
