New campaign to help pay for new facility at the Christie Hospital in Manchester

A fundraising campaign is being launched later to help pay for a new facility at the Christie in Manchester.

'Re Write Cancer' aims to raise 20 million pounds to go towards replacing the Paterson building which was gutted by fire.

The blaze started on the roof of the building, home to the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, in April 2017, causing significant structural damage.

Around 300 scientists and support staff had to be temporarily relocated to Alderley Park in Cheshire.

The new appeal will aim to help meet the cost of a new £150m research facility replacing the Paterson building.

It's looking to bring together the largest concentration of cancer scientists, doctors and nurses in Europe to collaborate and accelerate progress for patients.
