Renowned artist donates artwork to charity event in Merseyside

World-renowned artist Mackenzie Thorpe has gifted 15 hand-made, limited edition prints from his original Shankley Gates painting to raise money for charity.

The prints will be on auction at The Children's Charity Ball at Thornton Hall Hotel this Saturday.

The limited edition prints depict a father and son, standing in front of the famous Shankly Gates at Anfield, the home of Liverpool FC.

At last years event, Mackenzie’s You’re My World prints raised £28,000, and this year proceeds from the artist’s donation will go towards the purchase of a Variety minibus for Hilbre School in West Kirby.

Mackenzie Thorpe said: “I’m thrilled to be supporting The Children’s Charity Ball again this year and after raising nearly £30,000 last year, I hope that Shankly Gates can raise the same amount, if not more this time around.

“It is such a worthy cause and a great example of a community going that extra mile and supporting its young people. I am so proud to be involved again.”

Lyn Staunton, northwest development director at Variety, said: “It is an honour to have Mackenzie involved again this year and we are very grateful that he has taken time out from his busy schedule to create 15 limited edition prints to auction off.

“Money raised from his awe-inspiring prints will go towards a Variety sunshine coach for the disadvantaged children of Hilbre School.

"The Sunshine coach will enable the pupils to take part in extra-curricular activities and travel to and from school, and to integrate more into the local community.”
