Three questioned after 'homemade explosive device' found in Ramsbottom
Three people have been arrested after villagers were evacuated from their homes when a 'homemade explosive device' was found by police.
Army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene in Stubbins near Ramsbottom.
Houses and businesses were evacuated after cops discovered the device in a 'pre-planned raid' this morning.
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of manufacturing explosive devices and are currently in custody.
A cordon is currently in place on William Street and several surrounding streets have been sealed off.
Rest centres were set up at the Rostron Arms pub, in Edenfield, and Haslingden Sports Centre.
Supt Stasia Osiowy added: “We have evacuated a number of properties as a precautionary measure but there is not believed to be any immediate threat.
"We will endeavour to return people to their homes as soon as possible.”

“Enquiries are on-going.”
There have been no reports of any injuries.
