Man stabbed four times in 'unprovoked' attack after confronting masked group

A man has been stabbed after confronting a masked group who were seen "acting suspiciously" by his car in Bolton.

Police say the man, who is in his 40s, was stabbed four times and required hospital treatment after the attack on Thirlmere Avenue, Horwich at around 11pm on Friday night.

The offender(s) were described as being of slim build, wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered.

No arrests have been made and police say they are currently unsure how many people were involved in the incident.

Extra officers have been sent to patrol the area to help reassure local residents.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
