Three more arrested after man set on fire on his own doorstep

Three more men have been arrested by detectives investigating an attempted murder in Skelmersdale in which a man was deliberately set on fire.

Police believe the victim had been doused in some form of accelerant when he answered the door of his home in Waverley.

He received serious burns in the attack, which is thought to be targeted.

Police have made three new arrests:

  • A 22 year old man from Liverpool was arrested and bailed to October 28 on suspicion of on suspicion of wounding, attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

  • A 31 year old man from Liverpool was arrested and bailed to October 29 on suspicion of on suspicion of wounding, attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

  • A 31 year old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later released with no charge.

A 35-year-old man from Liverpool and a 32-year-old man from Skelmersdale had already been arrested and bailed until October 28.
