Firefighters battle large church fire in Oldham

Firefighters have spent the night at the scene of a large fire at a church building in Oldham.

Six fire engines were called to the rectory of St Marks with Christ Church in Glodwick. The roof of the three storey building was well alight.

The church itself had closed down earlier this week, because of "continued problems" and "reasons beyond our control", according to its Facebook page.

Residents close to the incident were being reminded to keep their windows and doors closed because of smoke.
