Battle of Arnhem: memories of those who fought and survived

This week is the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem where the Allies suffered a heavy defeat with 18,000 men being killed, wounded or taken prisoner.

Sadly the number of Arnhem veterans is dwindling year on year. But in two special reports, our Correspondent Paul Crone hears from two men who fought and survived the Battle of Arnhem.

The first is 94-year-old-Joe Mawdsley from Aughton near Ormskirk.

Joe shared his memories of fighting and surviving the Battle of Arnhem.

In this report, Paul Crone speaks to 99-year-old, Wilf Oldham, from Radcliffe near Bury, who was a young man was dropped into the war zone by glider.
