Kick-off for Neville brothers' Class of 92 university as it officially opens
The University Academy 92 (UA92), the brainchild of the Neville brothers' and fellow Manchester United players, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes has officially opened.
The brand new campus, situated at the former Kellogg’s building on Talbot Road in Old Trafford, Manchester, boasts a full media suite, state-of-the-art computer and IT spaces and flexible, modern rooms adaptable to formal and informal learning, as well as individual and group work.
UA92’s new approach to degrees focuses on character development forged from the lessons learnt by the lads under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson.
It will offer courses in academic subjects such as business and journalism, and rather than sporadic lectures, students will attend for four hours in the morning or the afternoon, four days a week, allowing them to hold down meaningful jobs alongside their studies.
It will operate as a branch of Lancaster University and will target students who might not otherwise go into further education - as well as those looking for a ‘broader formative experience.’
Gary Neville said it was "potentially the biggest thing they've [Class of 92] ever done"
