Warming up into this weekend

Sunday - warm air

Warm air from the continent will bring pleasant temperatures to the north west (22-26 c) In the south of the UK it will be hotter

Will it be record breaking?

The current record for warmest August Bank Holiday Monday on record is 28.2C (remarkably low) at Holbeach on 28 Aug 2017, which is likely to be broken. The record for the August Bank Holiday weekend is 31.5C at Heathrow on 25 Aug 2001 (Saturday). It's worth remembering that the date does change and there have been hotter 26 Augusts on record. Also worth noting the August Bank Holiday only became statutory in 1971 (following a trial period from 1965-1970).
