Strikes at Liverpool John Lennon Airport over the August bank holiday
Around 200 workers at Liverpool John Lennon Airport are to stage a strike over the August bank holiday weekend.
Members of the GMB trade union on Swissport EasyJet and Swissport Mainline contracts voted in favour of the walkout over health and safety issues, pay and working practices.
The GMB Organiser said they took the decision "with a heavy heart" as they don't want to make trouble for holiday makers, but "the health and safety of workers and travelers must come first"
Swissport have proposed a new offer, which will now be put to members.
In a statement the company said "We are aware that GMB has named three dates for potential industrial action. It’s important to note that the strike ballot was conducted on the basis of a previous offer and we are now in the final stages of proposing a revised offer for consideration.
"Negotiations are ongoing and we remain hopeful of reaching a resolution. Swissport remain committed to resolving this matter to protect the interests of our customers, airline passengers and employees."
