Emergency services working on the crisis-hit town of Whaley Bridge say they've been bolstered by the thank you messages from people living there.
More than a thousand people are still waiting to hear when they can return to their homes after a damaged dam above the town threatened to collapse.
The reservoir water has now been lowered to a safe level, and engineers can assess the damage more closely.
