Some evacuees from the 55 homes evacuated from the Horwich End area of Whaley Bridge at the weekend have been told they can return.
Other residents evacuated have been told they are to face another night out of their homes and will find out more after a meeting with authorities tomorrow at midday.
Canal and River Trust confirmed earlier this afternoon that water levels at Toddbrook Reservoir in Derbyshire, had been lowered to 8.4 metres - that has now lowered to 9.5.
Residents have been evacuated from the town since Thursday August 1 following heavy rain, although 20 people have refused to leave their homes despite fears of the damaged dam bursting.

An RAF Chinook was again drafted in on Tuesday to help the previously dropped bags of aggregate to settle in.
