NICE reconsidering making life-saving Batten disease treatment available on NHS
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence is reconsidering making a life-saving treatment available on the NHS after legal action brought by the Carroll family who have two seriously ill children.
Ollie and Amelia Carroll from Cheshire both have Batten disease. Ollie's access to the special enzyme drug was delayed but his sister Amelia received the treatment sooner and as yet hasn't developed any symptoms.
