Murder investigation underway after woman found dead in Manchester

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a house in South Manchester.

Paramedics called police to a house on Wilmslow Road in Withington, shortly after 12.05 am on Friday 19 July.

They discovered the body of a woman, believed to be in her 50s.

A 57-year-old man remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Carl Jones, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who was sadly pronounced dead earlier this morning and we have specially trained officers supporting them.
