Four teenagers arrested on suspicion of murder after suspected 'hit-and-run'

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was killed in a suspected hit and run in Kirkham, Lancashire.

Police were called to Freckleton Street where a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

They say it appeared he had been hit by a car which was believed to have driven away.

The man's family are being supported by trained officers.

Shortly after police stopped a Nissan Micra between junctions 5 and 6 on the M61.

Four people were arrested and remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Eric Halford, of West CID, said: “We are in the very early stages of what is clearly an extremely serious incident which has resulted in a man losing his life."

“While we have made a number of arrests our enquiries are very much on-going and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed these events or who has any information which could assist our investigation to come forward and speak to us.”
