Police seek man who absconded from HMP Kirkham in Lancashire

A man is wanted by police after absconding from prison in Lancashire.

Michael Doherty, who's 27, absconded from HMP Kirkham on Saturday.

Doherty, formerly from the Cheshire area, was jailed at Chester Crown Court in November 2018 for offences including burglary and dangerous driving.

Police say he's white, 6ft 2in tall, of medium build, with brown eyes and dark wavy hair. The 27-year-old has an Irish accent and a tattoo of the name ‘Mary’ on his left arm.

He has links to the Manchester, Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Lancashire, Cheshire and Essex areas.

Doherty could be violent and people are advised not to approach him.
