Man arrested in Malta appears in court charged with murdering Cheshire father 16 years ago
A man arrested in Malta last week over the murder of a father from Cheshire 16 years ago, is due to appear in court on Monday morning. Christopher Guest More, who is 41, was arrested in the Swieqi area, in the north of the island, on a European arrest warrant on Thursday night, in a joint operation with the Maltese authorities.
He was wanted in connection with the murder of Brian Waters, who was tortured and beaten to death in front of his two adult children at his farm in Tabley, near Knutsford in 2003.
Extradition proceedings were started against More on Saturday when he appeared in court in the Maltese capital, Valetta.
He has been remanded in custody until his next hearing today (Monday).
Former undercover BBC researcher James Raven, 60, Otis Matthews, 41, and John Wilson, 69, are serving life sentences after being convicted of Mr Waters' murder.
