Hospital porter left with fractured eye socket after assault by patient

A man has been charged after a hospital porter was assaulted by a patient in Liverpool.

Officers were called to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital after reports that a hospital porter had been punched in the face in the Emergency Department.

Merseyside Police say the staff member suffered a fractured eye socket.

A 34-year-old man from Wavertree has been charged with assault and affray.

He'll appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on 24 May.
