Community leaders in the Wythenshawe area of Manchester say the EDL founder Tommy Robinson is not welcome there.

Mr Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, plans to hold a barbecue for supporters this evening.

A letter signed by the area's MP and a number of religious leaders of different faiths states that Mr Robinson's views have no place in their community:

The event is planned for the Benchill area of Wythenshawe.

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group has also released a statement saying they have "explicitly declined the use of any of our land or assets for this event".

Meanwhile Tommy Robinson says this will be a family friendly event and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
